Meet the Team
Vroedvrou is grounded in critical scholarship that seeks to foreground Indigenous Knowledge Systems within broader debates on heritage, gender, and health. Central to this endeavour is the recognition of indigenous midwifery in the Richtersveld as both a vital form of community care and an underexplored site of scholarly inquiry. The project is sustained through interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together researchers, artists, and practitioners whose contributions strengthen its academic and creative dimensions. By situating midwifery within wider conversations on decoloniality, intangible heritage, and digital innovation, our contributors ensure that the project not only preserves knowledge but also advances critical dialogue across fields.
